BLUE RIDGE REGION BOARD MEETING
April 13, 2010

ATTENDEES: President Jerry Hampton, Keith and Wanda Martin, Dave Hogan, Dick Hatch, Eddie Fort, Gary Bell, Dave Snow, Ed Clowser, Ed Trottier, John Kuykendall, Warren Ibaugh, Bryon Maddox, JD McClure, Harry Hall, Charlie Schleupner, and Mick Michelsen.
MINUTES: The minutes were approved as printed in the Blau Rain.
TREASURERS'S REPORT:
Eddie Fort presented the Treasurer’s report. Our expenditures for the month were $1093.67 for expenses related to our upcoming r 30th Anniversary celebration. A contribution to a memorial for the recent PCA Instructor killed in South Carolina DE was tabled pending additional information.
We have received no additional payments from advertisers since last report.
BUSINESS MANAGER and VICE PRESIDENT REPORT:
Gary Templeton was unable to attend due to out of town business.
MEMBERSHIP:
Ed Clowser reported we had no new members this month.
EDITOR’S REPORT:
Dave Hogan reported he had submitted issues of the Blau Rain for judging at Parade for the PCA Newsletter contest.
WEB SITE:
John Kuykendall he had nothing new. He had been unable to get to process of obtaining the information concerning the utilization of the Blue Ridge web site.
SOCIAL:
Ed Trottier reported that the Jefferson Journey was a great success despite some timing difficulties caused by a late start a forest fire in part of the route. Approximately 30 Porsches from Shenandoah and the Blue Ridge Regions attended the event.
Ed stated that April 17 is the next event. It is a Tech Session at Martins German Service at 5-7 pm. The event will include dinner with those attending bringing desert. The tech session will be a surprise.
The upcoming trip to Green Bank, WV in conjunction with the Shenandoah Region will include a special insider’s tour of the observatory. One of the Shenandoah members is in charge of a major aspect of the program.
Wanda and Keith Martin with Ed Trottier’s assistance reported on progress for the Regions 30th Anniversary Celebration on May 8th. The Hidden Valley Country Club is being quite helpful. All preparations are within budget. Issues involving liability involving the serving of wine purchased by the Region were discussed. Hidden Valley assumes first liability as part of their corkage fees.
There were 26 RSVP’s as of the meeting. Jeff Wendell has agreed to MC the event. Numerous details were discussed and responsibility assigned. Many thanks from the board to Keith and Wanda for taking on this huge task.
TRACK:
Gary Bell reported that the recent Zone 2 DE at VIR was a success with a number of participants from the Blue Ridge both running and volunteering. It was a financial success with good attendance.
There was discussion concerning the return of registration fees for number last cancelations due to weather. While no action was taken by the Board, it was generally agreed, this was a very bad precedent to set.
On April 24-25 is the Grand Am Rolex Race at VIR. Blue Ridge Region is scheduled to take care of the Porsche Corral again this year. Volunteers will also be needed for this and Jerry stated there will be track passes for a limited number of Blue Ridge Volunteers each day.
We will be joining the Potomac Region for a joint DE over Labor Day weekend the same as last year. We will need volunteers at the track to hold up our share of the event.
HISTORIAN: No report
SAFETY: Peter Kauffman was unable to attend.
OTHER TOPICS:
--- The Board gave Jerry approval to act with the confidence of the Board in all financial decisions to be made at the upcoming Zone II Region Presidents meeting. Other items to be discussed are dealer and vender relationships, and by-laws.
-- Parade Registration is now open
-- Delaware Region will be celebrating it 50 anniversary this coming October

The next scheduled Board meeting is May11th at 7:00 PM. The location is the Crossroads Porsche showroom in Roanoke.
